"You are the expert"
Sunday 15 July 2018 1.30pm - 4.30pm
Where: Opanuku Room, Corban Estate Arts Centre, 426 Great North Rd, Henderson
MP for Te Atatu Phil Twyford, and facilitator Cissy Rock, invite you to take part in this unique event on Sunday 15 July at The Opanuku Room at Corban Estate Arts Centre.
Mental health has become a non-taboo topic in Aotearoa. We can actually talk about it now. But there’s more that we need to learn, and more that we need to do, for our whanau, our friends, our future generations – and for ourselves. The Government Inquiry into Mental Health and Addiction was established in response to widespread concern about mental health and addiction services in the mental health sector and the broader community. It’s purpose is to identify unmet needs, and develop recommendations for a cohesive approach for the future.
This is where you come in.
We invite West Auckland people with lived experience of mental illness to take part and share their insights, as well as others who feel strongly and want to have their say, to be the experts in the room. Anyone with a story to tell or an opinion to share is welcome to attend. Given the high rates of mental illness there are few who haven’t been affected - either directly or through family and friends. Your shared experiences and feedback will form a collective submission that will be presented to our Government.
